The Best Spray Tan Contouring System
Mar 12, 2023One of the ways that you can diversify yourself and stand out amongst the crowd as a spray tan artist is to offer highly sought-after services that elevate your client experience. Spray tan contouring is an add-on option that has the ability to completely change and level-up your sunless business because of the way that it exponentially enhances your client’s results! Not to mention, spray tan contouring can be for everyone! It’s a misconception that your client must be body building level toned prior to their spray tan to reap the benefits of a contour. All body shapes and sizes can benefit from a contour spray tan. Through applying spray tan solution to certain areas of the body we are able to manipulate the way the body looks by creating additional shadows and definition. Of course, this requires specific training and added time in practicing your technique because all bodies are different! This means that you have to understand how to best contour a variety of different body types to give the best possible outcome so that every client leaves your business feeling that much more confident in their skin. Choosing the right equipment to make the contouring service easier on you, as the spray tan artist, and more effective for the client, is the first step in starting your contouring journey. Below we will discuss the best contouring system for your sunless business!
Iwata Silver Jet & BCN Gun
I absolutely LOVE the Silver Jet equipment for contouring! This contouring system is the perfect setup for creating a flawless contour spray tan without the hassle of maneuvering an HVLP system to get the perfect stream of spray for a defined contour. I personally prefer a contour gun that is made as a bottom-feeder, such as with the BCN Gun. Essentially, this means that the bottom of the gun has a cup that holds the spray tan solution to move it through the airbrush gun instead of a gravity feed gun that has the solution cup placed on the top to feed the solution through the gun. Both of these options are completely up to personal preference, but the bottom-feeder style gun has been my choice for perfecting the entire contour experience for myself and my clients!
The Iwata Silver Jet system itself is great for in-studio and mobile artists because it’s compact and lightweight, which allows for easy storage and operation in small work spaces. The system also provides a dial to control the airflow going through the system to the gun so that you can easily adjust the pressure of solution being produced, and therefore the customization of your contouring technique.
Overall, this contouring system has been the best and most reliable asset for introducing contouring into my sunless business over the years. I’ve been able to utilize this system to perfect my technique and offer a contouring service that has gone above and beyond my client’s expectations. The main goal in providing an experience within our sunless business’ is to “wow” our clients in a way that makes them feel extra excited about the service they were given and the results that unfold afterward!
