3 Ways To Get More Clients For Your Beauty Biz
Dec 16, 2021The absolute NUMBER ONE thing I hear ALL. THE. TIME from students of Spray Tan Class: “how do I get more clients?” Before I jump into a couple tips and tricks that’ll help you get your dream clients walking through your door, I want you to recognize one very important thing. I want you to know that building your business and clientele takes time, effort, and money! So, if you haven’t gotten to where you want to be overnight, don’t sweat it, babe.
I think it’s very common to get caught in the highlight reels of entrepreneurism on Instagram. I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about - the business babe that grew a whole clientele in 2 months or the girl who started her business and then in 6 months scaled it to seven figures. Seeing things like that can have us questioning ourselves, our business, what we are doing wrong and why we are even doing it in the first place. If that’s been you, then don't get down on yourself! First of all, comparison is the thief of all good things, my friend. Everyone has their own journey to follow and no one way to do things can be considered right for everyone.
With that said, success does leave clues. That is why I’m going to share with you a few ways in which you can help bring new clientele into your business so that you can start making the money you’ve really been dreaming about! The first rule to getting more clients is that you have to make sure that people know you exist, girl! If people don’t know who you are or what you bring to the table, how in the HAIL are they going to know that you are what they’ve been looking for!? That’s right, Glow Boss, they’re not! It’s your job to make sure that you are known as the go-to sunless babe in your area! Soooo the question is, how do you do that? Below are some of my suggestions on how to grow your clientele:
BE WHERE YOUR CLIENTS ARE:
I always recommend positioning yourself where your ideal clients already are. Get very clear on who you want to walk through your salon door or into your mobile tent. By creating an avatar of some sort that lists the very specific details of your ideal client, you can then understand what they do for work, where they spend their free time, what their hobbies are, and therefore, be able to position your marketing in those places. Here are a few ways you can position yourself in front of new clients:
- Promote consistently on social media using location based hashtags so when people are searching for your town, such as, “sandiegospraytan,” your photos pop up! This is especially useful in smaller towns where there aren’t many artists already posting to those specific hashtags. Instagram has been used more and more as a search engine where consumers are using hashtags to seek out local businesses to visit. Make sure you’re in the line of vision as one of those businesses!
- Hit the streets!. Now, I'm not saying you belong to the streets, girl. LOL I’m saying, sometimes you need to physically go out there in the world and get what you want. I recommend printing off some sort of marketing material, such as a small flyer or postcard that promotes your brand, staple a business card to it, and walk into local businesses that you know your ideal client works at or visits often. This could be doctors offices, boutiques, dress shops, coffee shops, etc. Do your research and then get out there and introduce yourself to people at these places!
- A lot of brides love to be bronzed and glowy on their wedding day. AND they also have bridesmaids that usually want the same thing. Luckily, social media is a big help in this area because there are entire Facebook groups dedicated to all things wedding. I suggest researching your local wedding vendor Facebook groups and start promoting in them! These women are actively searching to book vendors so it’s the perfect way to connect with new clients easily.
EXPAND YOUR NETWORK:
The more people you know and build relationships with in your community, the more potential there is for opportunities! There are other artists such as photographers, makeup artists, lash artists, etc., that also work in the beauty industry that have a similar clientele to you. Get out there and network, network, network! I recommend telling them to “holla at ya girl” so that you can do a project together or set up a system of referring clients to each other.
GET PEOPLE TALKING:
Word of mouth is HUGE to growing your clientele and your business! The great thing is that people love to tell everyone they know about a great service they’ve gotten. With a sunless tan, your clients are basically walking advertisements for you so when they get complimented on their new glow, make sure to bring out the red carpet so they have positive things to say! I recommend offering a referral program to your clients so that they can get a discount by sending their friends and family to you. This brings new clients coming to you as well as helping to bring existing clients back, a WIN-WIN!
The moral of the story is that you will never build the business of your dreams if no one knows you exist, so get out there and make your mark, girl! Another thing to keep in mind - closed mouths never get fed! Don’t be afraid to go out there and ask for what you want. The worst anyone can tell you is “no” and that is better than never going after what you want at all!
